October Featured Athlete

Before Dawn joined CrossFit Boomtown’s “Kinetix Essentials ” program, she struggled to make fitness a consistent part of her life. She wasn’t sure what to do on her own, and none of the group classes she tried felt quite right. She figured working out just wasn’t her thing.

Now, after completing the “Kinetix Essentials” challenge and joining CrossFit Boomtown, she’s that person who can’t stop talking about working out. And who can blame her? Her strength and endurance are improving week to week. Her confidence is through the roof, she’s feeling happy overall, and she’s dropped two pants sizes!

She’s got her eyes on Losing more weight and strength Gain this time next year, but, with her dedication and hard work, we’re betting she gets there even sooner.

 Q: How long have you been a member and how long have you been doing CrossFit?
A:  off an on for a few years  

Q: What is your favorite thing about the gym?
A:  A small group setting and individual coaching 

Q: What is the biggest challenge you have overcome since joining the gym?

A:  being consistent and not making excuses and having more confidence in myself 

Q: What is your favorite moment at the gym so far?

A: Being able to overcome sled pushes and not being scared of not being able to breathe.  Learning how to breathe is so important.  Q: What is your favorite Pump up song for the gym?

A:  I really don’t have one.  I really don’t pay to much attention to the music Q: What’s your favorite “cheat” food?

A:   Chips and dip absolutely Q: What’s your Favorite activity outside the gym?

A:   Spending time with my family and taking care of the elderly 

Q: What would you say to someone who is thinking about starting?

A:  Don’t be scared, stop making excuses because I have had my share of them, anyone can do this no matter your size.  Consistency pays off.  The friendships you gain and the feeling of belonging is worth it. 

Q: What drives you?
A:   Feeling accomplished, knowing and believing I can fight my depression through exercise.  

Q: Which coach do you like to beat in workouts?

A:  I would love to be able to keep up with Melissa.  That’s my ultimate goal.   I have never worked out with a coach so I can’t compare.  I have only had personal coaching. 

Q: What is you biggest fitness goal right now?

A:   Lose 50lbs and to gain more overall strength
