CrossFit Boomtown is very excited to announce our March 2018 Member of the Month, Patricia Apple! She has shown steady progress because she’s committed to consistency! Read on to learn more about Patricia and her CrossFit journey. Thank you for being such an outstanding member of the CFBT community!
Q: How long have you been a member and how long have you been doing CrossFit?
A: since June 2017
Q: What is your favorite thing about the gym?
A: If I have to pick just one it’s the diversity of the workouts . I have never ever been bored in class. I always look forward to coming to Boomtown because I know it will be fun, challenging, and every single day is different.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you have overcome since joining the gym?
A: I have yet to “overcome it” but my endurance ! It sucks . Which surprised
me because I always played sports and ran so I considered myself pretty active . But crossfit is a different beast . I love working on it though and saying “ok take 3 breaths and Get back at it “ and realizing it’s hard but sticking with the movement anyway .
Q: What is your favorite moment at the gym so far?
A: It was my 25th birthday back in October and we were testing sumo deadlifts . I had my weight on and Danny comes over and he’s like “what’s your goal?” and I was like “ well I don’t know “ he said add some tens. I added them and lifted it. He comes back , says “add 2 more tens” . Eventually I hit my 1 rep max and the entire class is cheering me on and I look at Danny and I’m beaming . It was so awesome and great way to start my day/ year.
Q: What’s your favorite “cheat” food?
A: chicken wings and beer 🙂
Q: What’s your Favorite activity outside the gym?
A: riding my bike in the summer with my boyfriend , or just a night in with him cooking steaks and watching Star Wars or Batman (Christian bale version ) . I like to run too
Q: What would you say to someone who is thinking about starting?
A: Do it !!!! I waited too long to start . New things can be intimidating but sooo worth it ! And it makes you stronger and so much more confident to overcome difficult or new situations . I think you’ll end up regretting the things you didn’t do over the things you did do .
Q: What drives you?
A: It’s cliche but I just want to be the best I can be . And not necessarily fitness wise even though it always feels good to lift something heavy , I mean mentally. Starting crossfit has been way more than just a physical journey for me . Also I love learning new things (fitness and food wise ) and then telling people about it
Q: Which coach do you like to beat in workouts?
A: Um any of them ! That doesn’t happen though haha . I swear we have the best coaches in Rochester.
Q: What is your biggest fitness goal right now?
A: Um not hating burpees so much ? I would love to do a strict pull up. Also more consistent double unders, I have been progressing on those thanks to Zak’s clinic. Also want to start working towards a handstand push-up
